How to Activate Windows 10 with KMSpico (Step by Step)

Windows 10 remains one of the most widely used desktop operating systems. Here is exactly how to activate it with KMSpico — and how to do it the manual way if you prefer.

Before you start

  • Make sure you have a genuine, cleanly installed copy of Windows 10 (Pro, Enterprise, Education or an N edition).
  • Install .NET Framework 4.0 or later — it ships with Windows 10, so this is usually already done.
  • Temporarily allow the KMSpico file through your antivirus (activation tools are commonly flagged as “hacktools”). See Is KMSpico safe? for why.

Activate Windows 10 with KMSpico

  1. Download and unzip

Get the latest build from our download page and extract the ZIP using the password getkmspico.com.

  2. Run the installer

Launch the setup and follow the prompts. Click Yes if User Account Control appears.

  3. Open KMSpico

Start KMSpico from the Start menu. It auto-detects your Windows edition and shows the big red activation button.

  4. Press the red button

Click it once. After a few seconds you will hear a confirmation chime and the status turns green.

  5. Done

Windows 10 is now activated for the 180-day KMS cycle, which renews automatically.

The manual method (no tool)

If you would rather activate Windows 10 by hand against your own KMS host, open an elevated Command Prompt and run, replacing the key with the correct GVLK for your edition (Windows 10 Pro shown):

  • slmgr /ipk W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
  • slmgr /skms your-kms-host:1688
  • slmgr /ato

This is the same sequence KMSpico automates for you. Learn more in How KMS activation works.

Verify activation

Confirm success in either place:

  • Settings → Update & Security → Activation should read “Windows is activated.”
  • Or run slmgr /xpr to see the expiry date.

Troubleshooting

If activation fails, the usual causes are antivirus removing files mid-run, a missing .NET Framework, or the wrong edition key. Our dedicated guide, Fixing common KMSpico errors, walks through each message.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will activating with KMSpico delete my files?
No. Activation changes licensing state only; it does not touch your documents, apps or settings.
Does Windows 10 activation survive a reboot?
Yes. KMSpico installs a renewal task so activation persists across reboots and renews before the 180-day window closes.
Can I still install Windows Updates afterwards?
Yes. KMS-activated Windows 10 receives updates normally through Windows Update.
